2009 - The 5th Annual Leave Your Cat at Home™ Day Contest Winners

Note from Pearl's Human: This year's Leave Your Cat at Home™ Day produced more entries than ever before. Thanks to all who participated! This made Pearl's job much more difficult and, because Clyde is always so busy (read uncooperative), more human help was required to help her with the judging. As a way to thank her human friend, Marcia, for her help, Pearl added a winning category especially for her. We also added a new category for entries that came with a story and multiple pictures. Finally, we just couldn't leave anyone out so there is a category showing the remaining entries - see the Honorable Mentions page. I hope you enjoy!

THE WINNERS for Single Photos!

Pearl's Pick:     Lily spent some time attempting to build a pine cone fire, but alas, was unable to light the match due to her lack of opposable thumbs. So she gave up and spent the rest of the day admiring herself, a pastime much admired by Pearl.

Clyde's Pick:   Clyde initially said he picked Kitty's picture because of her sultry, bedroom eyes and her sleek, voluptuous body...but eventually he admitted it is because he covets her couch.

Marcia's Pick:   Marcia the Human appreciated the effort and time it took for Scritch & Scratchy to pose for their collection of Rorschach prints. Now she is trying to figure out what each one means.

The Winner for a Story with Photos

On February 27^th, 2009, the 5^th Annual Leave Your Cat At Home™ Day, Lucca and Paolo made big plans to celebrate while their humans were off at work. Their day started leisurely … a little playing, sleeping, sleeping and playing – followed by a bit of bird watching and dreaming of spring weather.

Later, they prepared a feast in celebration of the occasion.

Lucca, a skilled chef, worked to prepare a buffet of feline delights while Paolo loaded the fridge with Pacifico.

Their tummies full of some good eats and a couple of brews – the two decided to relax awhile in the sunroom, followed by a nap in front of the warm, cozy fireplace.

All in all ... a Purrrrrfect day for Lucca and Paolo!
